BetterShot

BetterShot is a free, open-source screenshot and screen-recording app for macOS, built natively rather than on Electron, as an alternative to Loom and CleanShot X. Recordings get cursor effects, timeline zooms, face-cam layouts, on-device captions and trimming in a native editor, while screenshots get arrows, numbered markers, gradient backgrounds and padding, with no account, tiers or watermark. Worth installing when a product walkthrough needs zooms and captions but a paid recorder is hard to justify, and its GitHub releases have passed 19,600 downloads.
