Canario

Canario is a free macOS terminal from the makers of Rio, built on the same rendering engine but wrapped in a browser-style workflow with spaces, splits, a ⌘K command bar and live tab previews. It prints images with the kitty graphics protocol and runs Live Text on them, carries progress from long commands to the Dock and menu bar, and badges a tab when a coding agent finishes or needs input. Still in beta, it is free, needs macOS 14 or later on Apple silicon, and restores each pane's working directory and scrollback after a restart.
